Traveling Anarchist’s Tool Chest
I had a chance to wrap up the final finish and details of my version of the Traveling Anarchist’s Tool Chest last weekend.
The carcass of the Tool Chest is dovetailed by hand together – the strongest joint available. The bottom boards are however, screwed onto the carcass so they are easily replaced if they rot. Speaking of rot, the entire chest sits on four wheels screwed to the bottom boards, keeping the chest off a wet floor.
The bottom and top skirts on this chest are also dovetailed and glued to the carcass.
The lid is a thick panel that is surrounded by a dust seal on three sides; the seal pieces are dovetailed at the corners because this area of a tool chest takes heaps of abuse.
The whole carcass is made from European Oak. Only the two tool tills for my Traveling Anarchist’s Tool Chest are made from some Hard Maple.
Finish: Lecol floor oil “Dark Antique”
