Purpleheart with Hard Maple Joiner’s Mallet
One of the most frequently used tools in my shop is a joiner’s mallet. I use one for finesse work such as tapping chisels and carving tools, as well as more blunt force actions like banging a carcass together or forcing a panel flat during glue-up. Every woodworker or handyman needs a good strong mallet. They’re really not that hard to make either. All I used was a piece of Purpleheart and a block of Hard Maple.
Finish: Danish Oil
